Peter grew up in Wearside and began studying Business Studies at the University of Birmingham. However, after an encounter with the Psalms in a Gideon Bible at his university halls, he gave up his studies to work alongside young adults with severe learning disabilities. He then spent three years studying theology at Durham and spent a year as Pastoral Assistant at St Michael’s from 2008. He is best remembered in Camden for cycling alongside Fr Philip on a fundraising mission to visit as many English cathedrals as possible in two weeks. He was ordained deacon at Durham in 2011 and priest there a year later. He served his title and curacy at St Mary and St Peter, Sunderland. In 2015 he moved to military chaplaincy in the Royal Navy, initially at the nuclear submarine base at Faslane and then from 2017 in Bahrain.
